Making plans to travel to Singapore? We know that the constant changes in Covid-19 regulations may make travelling during Covid-19 tricky. Whether you’re interested in travelling to Singapore for a holiday or are a Singaporean returning home from overseas, here’s a Covid-19 Travel Guide to Singapore to make your trip to our little red dot a little easier.
Travel Requirements for Entering Singapore
As of 1 April, Singapore has opened our borders to all fully vaccinated travellers. Travellers aged 13 and above are considered fully vaccinated if they have:
- Received the full regime of WHO EUL vaccines, or
- Have contracted Covid-19 (before their vaccination) and received at least one dose of any WHO EUL Vaccines at least 28 days of COVID-19
Depending on your vaccination status, you’ll have to fulfil different travel requirements before entering Singapore.
If You’re Fully Vaccinated
- Make sure you have valid proof of your Covid-19 vaccination, either by ensuring it’s uploaded in the TraceTogether or HealthHub app or validated on the Vaccination Check Portal
- Fill in your SG Arrival Card (up to 3 days before arrival)
Fully vaccinated travellers to Singapore do not need to do a pre-departure test to enter the country and won’t need to quarantine when you arrive. Your holiday plans can begin the moment you touch down.
If You’re Not Fully Vaccinated
Currently, Singapore does not generally allow entry for travellers who are non-vaccinated, unless there are valid reasons for entry (such as compassionate reasons).
- Submit an application for entry permission for travel to Singapore
- Fill in your SG Arrival Card (up to 3 days before arrival)
- Take a pre-departure Covid-19 test within 2 days of your departure to Singapore
- Returning Singapore residents and Long-Term Pass holders can do their pre-departure ART over the DA app as well
- Serve a 7-day Stay Home Notice (SHN) period at any pre-booked accommodation and do a PCR test at the end of your SHN
3 Apps You Need when Travelling to Singapore
Here are a few important apps you should download on your phone so that travelling around Singapore is smooth during your stay.
- TraceTogether
TraceTogether is an app which the Singapore government uses for contact tracing of Covid-19 cases. You may need to use it to enter certain nightlife establishments or large-scale events. While you can obtain a physical TraceTogether token from community centres (for a small fee), it’s probably easier to install the app version on your phone.
- Wireless@SGx
Did you know that you can get free Wi-Fi across most areas in Singapore? If you’re not planning on getting a local SIM card, the Wireless@SGx app will certainly come in handy! The app shows you where the Wi-Fi hotspots are and helps you to connect to them. Find out how to set up your account here.
- Transport Apps
We’re cheating a little by bundling transport apps together, but trust us, these will be useful for your trip.
Singapore’s public transportation is one of the easiest ways of getting around the country. You can use the MyTransport app (on Android and iOS) to help you with planning your journey during your stay in Singapore.
If you need to get somewhere in a hurry, make sure you have the Grab app on your phone so that you can catch a ride easily.
What You Need to Know about Covid-19 Measures in Singapore
As Singapore moves towards our goal of living with Covid-19, we’ve loosened many Covid-19 restrictions across the community. Here are the three most important ones that you’ll need to know, when making your travel plans:
- Mask wearing: It’s mandatory to wear a mask if you’re indoors (unless you’re eating or drinking). Mask wearing is optional when you’re outdoors – although you’ll notice that most Singaporeans tend to keep their masks on, particularly in crowded public areas.
- Group sizes: To the delight of most Singaporeans, as of 26 April, there is no limit on social gatherings.
- Dining in: Only fully vaccinated individuals are allowed to dine out at F&B establishments. There could be random spot-checks to ensure that patrons are vaccinated, so don’t be surprised if you’re asked to show your vaccination status.
