Sinopharm Vaccine
The Sinopharm Vaccine is an inactivated vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) which stimulates the body’s immune system without risk of infecting you with the virus. Once inactivated viruses get presented to the body’s immune system, they stimulate the production of antibodies and make the body ready to respond to an infection with live SARS-CoV-2.
The MOH recommends 3 doses for good protection.
The vaccine has been assessed to be safe for use. However, you may experience common side effects, similar to other vaccines. These usually get better after 1 to 3 days.
We recommend making an appointment for your vaccination on our online appointment form, as our clinics may not allow walk-ins, depending on the stock of vaccines available on the day itself.
Yes. The Sinopharm Vaccine has been approved by the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) from MOH. It has also been approved for use in Singapore under the Special Access Route.
You may experience some side effects after being vaccinated. These side effects should be relatively mild, and only last 1 to 3 days.
According to a large multi-country Phase 3 trial, WHO has reported that the Sinopharm vaccine has an efficacy of 79% against symptomatic COVID-19 infection; and an efficacy of 79% against hospitalisation.
The Sinopharm Vaccine works by introducing an inactivated coronavirus into our body. This triggers an immune response from our body, so that our immune system learns how to fight COVID-19.
On the other hand, mRNA vaccines contain genetic information to create the coronavirus spike protein. Our immune system learns to defend against COVID-19 by defending against the spike protein created by the vaccine, when introduced into our body.
Individuals aged 18 years and above, and have no history of anaphylaxis/severe allergic reactions are eligible for the Sinopharm Vaccine. If you have a fever of over 38.5ºC on the day of your vaccination, you are advised to postpone your appointment until your fever subsides.
