As of 8 January, China announced that they will open up their borders to make it easier for residents and tourists to travel in and out of the country. This long-awaited opening up has been anticipated by many, especially if you’ve held back many travel plans out of the country.
Whether you’re planning a leisurely holiday or need to travel for business, here is what you need to know about travelling to Singapore from China; and what to take note of when you’re returning back to China.
Pre-Departure Requirements to Singapore
The good news for anyone coming into Singapore: there’s no specific travel restrictions imposed on travellers from China. Everyone who enters Singapore is subject to the same set of travel requirements, which is based on your vaccination status:
Fully vaccinated individuals (by WHO definition) or travellers aged 12 and below:
- Able to enter Singapore without doing a Covid-19 pre-departure test
- Would not need to serve a quarantine period in Singapore after landing
Unvaccinated individuals or partially vaccinated individuals:
- Would need to test negative on a pre-departure Covid-19 test within 48 hours of flight to Singapore (Note: the test can be a PCR test or a ART test)
- Would not need to serve a quarantine period in Singapore after landing
- Short-term visitors must have an insurance policy that is at least $30,000 of medical coverage, including Covid-19 coverage
Pre-Departure Requirements to return to China
For those planning to return to China after your trip to Singapore, the pre-departure requirements have also been simplified.
Regardless of your vaccination status, you’ll need to:
- Test negative on a Covid-19 RT-PCR test, within 48 hours of their flight to China
- Fill in a Health Declaration form that can be found at https://htdecl.chinaport.gov.cn and declare their negative Covid-19 result
There also may not be a quarantine period that you’ll have to serve after landing. However, this is subject to your destination and your vaccination status. You may want to double-check your quarantine requirements, so that you can get prepared after landing.
If you’re in Singapore and need health or medical support, Doctor Anywhere is here for you! You can see a doctor anytime you need on the DA app for a variety of common conditions, and receive medication delivered to your place of residence within hours.
Additionally, you can do your pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test for returning to China with us. We are an MOH-approved provider and the results can be used for your pre-departure requirements.
